Hewn Territories & Destruction / Reconstruction

Hewn Territories

October 6, 2005 to April 8, 2006

Curated by Eileen Legaspi-Ramirez and Claro Ramirez

An assembly of scapes and peopled panes, Hewn Territories challenged the notions of space as merely empty, neutral, and uncharted geographies. Drawing upon the politics-laden term “territory,” this exhibition invoked the notion of space as taken, contested, disputed, and always open to challenge. It also took up territory as a consequence of physical and psychological occupation.

Destruction / Reconstruction

October 6, 2005 to April 8, 2006

Curated by Eileen Legaspi-Ramirez and Claro Ramirez

An exhibition of images imaginably used as visual arguments for the need to have the country’s erstwhile colonial masters to re-make a Philippines that was in disarray and in need of “salvation.”
