The Lopez Museum and Library and Alliance Française de Manille present L’expedition d’art en France, a panel discussion with Claude Tayag and Noe Fuentes this 6 May 2017, Saturday, 2 – 4PM.
L’expedition reintroduces the works Macario Vitalis and the artistic opportunities available to Filipinos in France through the Philippine Artist Residency Program of Alliance Française de Manille.
Artist, writer and chef, Claude Tayag, met the seemingly elusive Macario Vitalis in 1979 and provide a glimpse of the life of Vitalis from his beginnings in Vigan, Ilocos to his flourishing artistic career in Brittany.
Noe Fuentes, Cultural Coordinator of Alliance Française de Manille, will speak about their long-running Philippine Artist Residency Program (PARP), and other programs such as exhibitions, film screenings, and other such programs available to the public to further Philippine and French relations in the cultural field.
Registration fees are as follows: PHP 115 for students, teachers and senior citizens; and PHP 130 for Adults.
A selection of Vitalis’ works from the Lopez Museum and Library’s collection are now on display for the exhibition, Pauses of Possibility which runs until 17 June 2017. It features works by contemporary artists Marina Cruz, Kara de Dios, Elaine Navas, and Pam Yan Santos; and is curated by Ricky Francisco.
