Lecture on The Academics: Lozano, Asuncion and Domingo by Ambassador Jose Maria A. Cariño, 21 September, Saturday, 9-12 noon at the Lopez Museum & Library. Third part of the series on Understanding Philippine Visual Art through the collections of Ateneo Gallery and Lopez Museum.

Amb. Jose Maria A. Cariño is currently the Chair Alternate of the Technical Cooperation Council of the Philippines and Head of the Cultural Diplomacy Unit of the Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations and Cultural Affairs. Amb. Cariño was the Vice Consul for the Philippine Embassy in Madrid, Spain from 1990-1993 and was the Consul of the Philippine Embassy in London, United Kingdom from 1993-1996. He was the Consul General, Charge d’Affaires of the Philippine Embassy in Madrid, Spain from 1998-2004.

Amb. Cariño has written books about art and culture in the Philippines, mostly during the early colonial era such as Discovering Philippine Art in Spain (1998) and Jose Honorato Lozano, Filipinas 1847 (2001).
