UNDERSTANDING PHILIPPINE VISUAL ART

Through the collections of Ateneo Art Gallery and Lopez Museum

Organized in conjunction with Trajectories, this eight-week lecture series focuses on the history and characteristics on Philippine pre-colonial to contemporary visual art.

September 7 – Beginnings of Philippine visual arts by Dr. Esperanza Gatbonton

September 14 – Luna and Hidalgo by Dr. Ambeth Ocampo

September 21 – Academics: Lozano, Asuncion, Domingo by Ambassador Jose Maria Cariño 

September 28 – Conservatives: Dela Rosa, Amorsolo, Arellano, Castañada by Dr. Patrick Flores

October 5 – The Triumvirates: Botong, Edades and Ocampo by Dr. Alice Guillermo and Ino Manalo

October 12 – Moderns and Neo-realists by Dr. Eloisa May Hernandez
October 19 – 70’s – 80’s period by Ma. Victoria Herrera
October 26 – Contemporary Art by Prof. Eileen Legaspi-Ramirez

Registration Fee: Php 6,400 for the complete series or Php 900/session. Special rate offered to Lopez Museum members and Ateneo de Manila faculty & students. Limited to 30 pax per session. Certificates will be issued to participants who are able to complete the series of lectures.
