The Lopez Memorial Museum is pleased to partner with the annual sound art festival, Fete dela WSK.
Sound-Off features three speakers: Kai Lam of Singapore, Ian Parker of UK and Yuzuru Maeda of Japan. Lam will speak on his curatorial activities and the Singaporean art scene, Maeda will focus on Indian music, while Parker will discuss Slovenian cultural-political interventions by NSK (Neue Slowenische Kunst) , highlighting the difference between analytic and political strategy. The talk will be on Dec 10, Saturday, 2-4pm.
Kai Lam, co-artistic director of The Artists Village’s Pulau Ubin Artists-in Residency Program in Singapore, has focused on performance and time-based art as he explores and presents performative art projects, exhibitions and events in galleries. Yuzuru Maeda graduated with a BA in Music from the La Salle College of Arts in Singapore. Her practice includes producing soundtracks, jingles and music compositions as well as performances with Sanshin (Japanese), Sarod (Indian) and Violin (classical) electronic sound compositions. Ian Parker is a Professor of Psychology at the Manchester Metropolitan University, a practicing psychoanalyst as well as a member of the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research, the London Society of the New Lacanian School and the College of Psychoanalysts.
