Art forum on March 5: Bewildered: How Do we Keep Installation Art?
The Lopez Museum will host a forum on contemporary art and art installations on March 5, Friday, from 10am to 5pm. The forum called Bewildered: How Do We Keep Installation Art?, features case studies of works that present unique issues relating to installation and environmental art.
As an expressive mode in contemporary art, installations and environmental art present challenges in terms of installation, re-installation, documentation and preservation to museums, galleries, artist-run spaces, and art professionals including conservators, collectors and artists themselves. Issues regarding the integrity of the artist’s vision, authenticity, and conservation come into play as these usually time-and-space dependent artworks are kept for posterity and re-installed in other times and contexts.
Museums, galleries, artists, collectors and conservators are invited to join the discussion on ways to ensure the proper and adequate display, recording and conservation of installations. The forum is free and open to the public, but due to the space limitations, a maximum of 30 seats will be allotted. Those interested must reserve their seats via telephone or email by March 2, 2010.
The Lopez Memorial Museum and Library is at the ground floor, Benpres Building, Exchange Road corner Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Museum days and hours are Mondays-Saturdays, 8am-5pm, except holidays. For more information, call Fanny at 631-2417 or email admin@lopez-museum.org.
